Charm and character

This hotel is the perfect combination of charm and historic character with all the modern conveniences. The hotel has a beautiful decor, and each room is unique. We stayed in the Segura room which was very spacious with a tile floor and a large bathroom. The hotel is in a great location, just off a main square and close to everything. The breakfast, served from 9:30-10:30, was excellent. The setting, with tables alongside a wine cellar, and mellow music playing, was very nice. But best of all was the quality of all the ingredients. There was a large assortment of quality meats and cheeses, along with delicious homemade spreads and desserts. We thoroughly enjoyed our 5-night stay there.

Probably worth it if you can make it to the breakfast in the one-hour window allotted

We were comfortable here and slept great in the large, comfortable bed. Everything was fine in our one-night stay. My reasons for not rating this higher are that the room was small and nothing particularly special, and the cost per night was higher than similar historic hotels right in this part of Ubeda. I was on board for the unique historic location and had looked forward to poking around the building itself, but there was not much to see or explore, and the historic character did not consistently carry through to the room. Ours also lacked any window/view, so we just had the skylight, which could not be shaded. Service was great and friendly when we arrived in the mid-afternoon, but we did not see anyone at the front desk again until the next morning, when we were checking out.
The breakfast is the one reason to stay here, aside from wanting to support historic small hotels in general. The one-hour window means that you have to be serious about making it to the table in that time, and we did structure our morning around that. The food and coffee were delicious (the juice itself did not actually taste fresh-squeezed, though), and the mix of buffet and table service worked well. If the timing had been more flexible, we might have been able to hold off on joining breakfast right when there were other guests who had a child with a disturbing habit of snorting loudly every 20 seconds.
I would probably not recommend this place to others, though Ubeda itself was a great place to stop between Madrid and places in southern Spain.

Best Breakfast in Andalusia, Warm Welcome, Rooms a Bit Dated

Let's start with the best part - the breakfast with locally sourced ham, cheese, etc. and freshly cooked cakes. Also a delicious red-pepper marmelade (the owner gave us the recipe!). The location is right near everything (but you might have to park a bit away). The welcome is warm and interesting. Our room was spotless but a bit 'old style'. Even though the room was facing the street, it was very quiet during the night. Ubeda is a charming town with so much to see and do for such a small town. A lot of good restaurants too.

Fabulous small family hotel

I can only endorse all the other praise for this hotel: historic building, comfortable and characterful rooms, outstanding breakfast and charming hosts. Note that breakfast is served from 09.30 to 10.30 but the owner arranged to leave something for me when I had to leave early morning. Ubeda and Baeza are little known gems well worth the journey. Lovely people and local cuisine.

Excellent stay

Very well preserved property, with nice touches that add to the character. The location is extremely convenient for the mail sights. The owner is personally attending to the guests, which makes one feel very welcome. The breakfast is excellent.
