GOOD EXPERIENCE TO REPEAT

We stayed several days, the stay was very pleasant.
The room was very clean, and the team is very friendly.
The hotel is very well located.
The village is accessible on foot.

Very well located and both the facilities and the friendliness were great.

It is a very pleasant, comfortable environment. Complete silence to rest well. The people who run it are lovely. It has everything you need to rest and spend some very pleasant days as a meeting point. Advisable for all people. They make you feel at home.

Great location for exploring the bigger cities

We agree with most of the other reviews of this property that it's fantastic value for money and a great location for exploring the region. We particularly chose this town as it was very central for driving to San Sebastian, Vittoria and Bilbao and they could all be visited in less than an hour using the toll roads ( a little longer on the free roads). The welcome was great and lots of useful tips given. The room was extremely comfortable and the bed really comfortable. The negatives for us were the smell of smoke when entering the room. This was most likely in the curtains or fabrics and was quite noticeable to a non-smoker. Also we didn't find any decent eating places in the town and found ourselves eating before returning back to Ermua. Wouldn't hesitate in coming back here again and really enjoyed the stay.

Excellent accommodation in the heart of the Basque Country

This is an excellent Pension situated in the heart of Ermua with fantastic service and value for money. Situated in what, from the exterior looks like an apartment block, the Pension is actually in a very central location close to the heart of the town with access to nearby shops, restaurants and bars. Ermua is a little off the beaten tourist track, but I stayed with my family as part of a relocation project and found the town very friendly and easy going with an ample choice of amenities, restaurants and great connections to the rest of the Basque country.
Despite the exterior, the rooms inside were immaculately prepared, clean, fresh and well decorated. The service team, led by Jauntxo were always helpful and hardworking. We used their advice for local travel and recommendations.
Although a breakfast service was available, we ate locally at one of the many cafe's that were available.
Pension Melida really does offer excellent value for money with a friendly and helpful service. If you find yourself in need of accommodation in Ermua, then I would highly recommend a say here. It is not a Hilton, but you are not paying Hilton prices!

Brilliant value, great hosts.

The official website shows a walnut and how right it is. Wrinkly on the outside but lovely and sweet on the inside.
Easily accessible by rail from Bilbao or Donostia (San Sebastian ) and as a result a fantastic value base in a non tourist town hence all bars etc serve cracking good value stuff. My recommendation, ditch the expensive city accommodations, come here and then spend the saved money on top food options all around this part of Spain.
As others say the outside ain't great but no problem it's just part of an apartment block but the rooms are spot on. Spotless and its compact but well specked bathrooms. Good beds, room safe, plasma TVs etc. No real breakfast ( but with cafes open from 0700 opposite the bus stop until who knows when, but at least midnight! Who beds hotel food?) no great views but hey spectacular value and friendly and helpful hosts, fill your boots and stop here.
One minor point the noise does carry around the hotel but nothing I couldn't live with.
