Beautiful hotel with a dark edge

My stay at Blooming was overall very successful. Everything you can expect from a good hotel can be found here: peace, relaxation and luxury, in the middle of the beautiful surroundings of the Schoorl dunes. The hotel offers a wonderful place to completely unwind and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Still, I have two small caveats. In some places, the carpet would need to be replaced. In addition, during breakfast on May 30, I noticed something less positive. A woman of around 60 years, who seemed to have a managerial role that morning, unfortunately did not make a good impression. Her attitude towards colleagues appeared dominant, which even made some employees seem a bit insecure or tense. She also radiated little interest to the guests. As a guest I got the feeling that everything revolved around her, when the guest should be the main focus. I found that unfortunate and not fitting with the otherwise welcoming look of the hotel.
The breakfast itself, on the other hand, was really excellent and deserves a 10+ in my opinion. The quality, presentation and choice were exquisite.
Despite these comments, I look back on my stay with great pleasure. The tranquility, location and atmosphere make this hotel absolutely worthwhile. I will definitely be back.

Ideal hotel

Nice, clean hotel with a big bathroom, nice room and we had a balcony.
Outside area to do a drink is lovely sitting.
And the breakfast in the morning was extensive and good.
Ideal base for cycling to Bergen aan Zee and Schoorl.

Bad

Unhygienic: both our room (loft for 6 people) and the general areas (play area, swimming pool, changing rooms and toilets) were dirty. The hotel is outdated and in many places outdated, the rooms are very noisy and the bunk beds creaked. A lot was broken, including the TV at the kids. For us unfortunately the first and last time. (Hot tub was also broken, pool way too cold for the kids)

The cozy rooms are on the small side but clean and comfortable. We forgot to tell the hotel about that one of us had a disability moving (ok with normal stairs) so we got a room with a lot of steep tiny stairs (very cozy and cool if you don’t have a disability). The breakfast was amazing. The spa area was nice. Very nice staff

What we like :
- It’s a nice hotel with plenty of art work & localized in a beautiful & natural place
- Their breakfast is good and we like what we ate at their restaurant.
- There are great amenities for kids : kids room, playground, outdoor chess… It’s a nice place for families.
What we don’t like :
- Swimming pool was too cold.
- Our room was very dark. It’s a pity for a suite.
- And the main pain point was the staff which was very unhelpful : no advice regarding the area or the hotel : they gave us the keys, that’s it. They did’nt help us for finding a bike adapted to the size of our son or to charge our car… It’s a pity.
