The rooms were clean and the property was a little dated. But it had that German hill vibe that only an older property can have. It was far enough from the village but still walkable. Lots of walking trails and little traffic. Great for people with dogs!

Great hotel in a quiet location with best service
A hotel in a prime, quiet location. Nice staff. Great clean and spacious rooms with great service. Breakfast had been served once at the table and on Sunday there was a breakfast buffet. Both absolutely top!
The restaurant, which we unfortunately did not use, also enjoys an excellent reputation in the region!
We like to come back because we felt very comfortable at the Hotel Scheidberg in Wallerfang in Saarland.

Absolute failure
When we arrived at 6pm, the reception was no longer manned. We reached out to an employee from the kitchen. This told us the keys would be at the reception. Unfortunately, our name wasn't there. We were then able to grab some key. Then we were satisfied, But privacy sends greetings. Upon entering the room we immediately smelled a musty smell that we could only suppress by opening the windows. We had a hunch that it was mold.
At breakfast you had to be lucky on both days to get scrambled eggs and bacon. After three guests, the container was empty again. The only employee in the service was totally overwhelmed. In the entire breakfast room, many ceiling panels were missing where cables hung down. Apparently there's some refurbishment going on. The hotel is probably from the 80s and needs total renovation. The summit was then that we were removed from the breakfast room at 10am, as brunch was offered from 10:30am. This was despite the fact that several other tables were available.
You should avoid this hotel, there are better alternatives in Wallerfang.

As a hiking enthusiast, especially on the dream loops of Saar-Hunsrück, I am always looking for hotels in this area. The Hotel Scheidberg in Wallerfang was thus an ideal starting point for various dream loops. With an Animod voucher in a 4 star hotel you can’t do anything wrong – I thought. Okay, I was taught something better, and the disappointment was pretty big. I read some of the reviews before booking, the negatives unfortunately only after. I booked a standard room through Animod, neither at Animod nor on the HP nor on other portals did anything about the size of the rooms in the annexe – only the double rooms in the main building were described, which have a balcony in addition to the more than 20 m2.
On the day of arrival we noticed that we can not make it to check-in until 4 pm. As I had read that the reception was only open until 4pm, I called in time to ask how I could get the key. Well before 4pm I was forwarded to a hotline. However, the lady could not say how I got my key – actually a simple question. Ok, on arrival at the hotel we saw that the registration slips and keys were at the reception. Unfortunately, however, with personal data such as first name, last name and date of birth. The data protection sends greetings. I do not want other hotel guests to be able to view my data, it is Personal data according to the GDPR and therefore a clear breach that was already criticised a few weeks ago.
After we move into our room, the next negative surprise. No 10m2, no closet, no room for suitcases and an unbearable air and dark through the canopy. The TV was smaller than a commercially available PC screen, and the programs noted on the note were partially unavailable. Ok, the window opened and then realized that the frame is totally warped and it can no longer be closed properly – except with brute force, which we avoided. Unfortunately, however, the window was clearly visible from the outside not properly locked – if I had been alone, I would never have stayed here for fear of burglars. The window would have been easily accessible from the outside, as it was only 1 m above ground level and the grounds were freely accessible. The entire annex was also freely accessible – to everyone. The window we had criticized the next morning, it was then again completely closed, but continued not to close after opening.
Some things have already been written about the sauna area and improvement praised – but unfortunately there was no current information on the HP here either. Since the reception was not occupied on the day of arrival, we asked the next morning: yes, no problem, the service staff in the restaurant knows and would turn on the sauna. Since the sauna area is half a construction site, we have omitted.
The outdoor area is partly very unkempt, the lawns and meadows not mowed for a long time. Umbrellas that fell over in the front yard and wet seat cushions.
The breakfast was so far ok, but the scrambled eggs cold and dry. But here I can at least praise the extremely nice and helpful service employee who took care of the guests. Also the nice lady who brought us our welcome cocktail was extremely accommodating.
The barking dog at the reception can be liked, but you don't have to and since nobody was there at the checkout, we put our key on the counter.
I travel a lot, in hotels of different stars and even without – but unfortunately this stay falls into the top 3 in the end. I don't want to comment on jumped tiles etc. at this point, but I have to strongly advise against staying overnight in the annex.
Oh yes, I had written to the hotel a few weeks before asking for a room with balcony -. So if someone had told me that this is not currently possible, that would have been ok, but no answer is also not an option for a 4 star hotel.
With a 2 star hotel, I could perhaps have given a reasonably positive review and I often turn a blind eye to one or the other. But I was infinitely embarrassed to have given away this voucher for my birthday.

Good hotel
I have spent one night ahere being on training. The room was very nice and super clean. Breakfast and dinner were very good. I would appreciate to have a complimentary bottle of water in the room. This is in fact the only negative I can find.
