A quiet hotel on the edge of the Kurpark
A pleasant hotel, quiet and centrally located, on the edge of the spa park and only a few km from Koblenz. If you are looking for peace and want to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, this is the right place. Good gastronomy available in the place, you don't have to drive Km far to eat well and delicious.
And in a few minutes you can experience pure culture, such as the German Corner or Stolzenfels Castle in Koblenz. Or just take a boat tour.
A delicious breakfast awaited us every morning and the service was very attentive and friendly. All in all a successful multi-day stay.

Es freut uns sehr, dass Sie die ruhige Lage am Kurpark und die Nähe zu Koblenz genossen haben. Basic Thermen
Beautiful location and lovely views. Nice , natural smells by infusions in the sauna area. Good, hot Aufgüsse provided by a professional Bader master.
Tasty and affordable food in the restaurant. Fast service. I really liked the salt infusion room and back heated seats.
What I didn't like: people smoking everywhere outside: there was no designated smoking area. So, you jus relaxing after a sauna ceremony, and someone, just next to you smoking. Terrible.
Also there is no indoor pool in the sauna area, only 1 outdoor. The water was not ready warm to enjoy it. It may be alright in the summer, but on the windy rainy cold day it's not nice.
There are plenty of mineral water pools in the Aquapark area, but you need to wear a sweming sweet and area is very crowded.

The real gem is the restaurant!
I had chosen Bad Ems as a stopover on my way to Dresden: easy access and charm.
It had both!
People at the hotel were friendly and professional, but the real gem is the restaurant.
Very unpretentious, but with great food and friendly service.

Good breakfast but mixed feelings about the hotel
The Hotel Bad Emser Hof is a traditional, older hotel which located directly on the river Lahn.
We occupied a spacious double room with mountain view. The mountain view was literally a direct sight at a rock wall behind the hotel with no view at all.
The furnishing was not new but considerably well maintained. The bed offered a good night's sleep. WiFi worked perfectly. A kettle is placed in the room, but during our three nights stay the coffee, milk and sugar were only replenished after calling the room service. A safe and a fridge are missing. The bath room would need some renovation. It is equipped with a bathtub. The room cleaning was only superficial and a more intense cleaning would be advisable.
The breakfast buffet is abundant. The servers courteous and attentive. The breakfast room offers a beautiful view on the banks of the river Lahn. The hotel has an Italian restaurant which we did not visit.
There is a small spa area with a sauna.
Free parking from 18.00 until 08:00 was possible along the Lahn. The hotel has a parking lot with a narrow entrance. The parking fee is € 6.50 per day.

Run down, old, dirty, definitely not worth the money
Beautiful photos of the outside of the hotel and nice ones of the inside, 120€ a night and rather good reviews made us think we’d be in for a treat. What a disappointment, though! The beautiful pictures on the Booking.com site of the facade were of the Grand Hotel a few hundred yards away. The room looked nothing like what we’d imagined. It was old fashioned and rundown and above all, dirty! The very cheap looking sofa, originally meant to be a sort of mustard yellow was partially grey, there was a hole in the bedsheets, there were splotches and smears on the walls and carpet, the table and chairs on the balcony were dusty and rusty, the shower tiny, the wine glasses mismatched and, to make matters worse, there were spiders crawling about in the four corners of the ceiling. We arrived late, loaded with luggage and the rather small lift has a rather small door that refuses to stay open while you’re trying to lug your stuff into it. You’d think the receptionist standing three meters away would have the courtesy to hold the door open for you... no help offered whatsoever. The next morning we told the very same receptionist that we didn’t appreciate the spiders, the dirt, the room and so on, but he seemed rather disinterested and said that, perhaps, he might be able to do something for us. He never did. We tried again with another younger, friendlier receptionist, but again, no luck.
The city of Bad Ems is quite lovely and the very modern Thermal Baths about a mile away are absolutely wonderful, but when we came back in the evening from our stroll around town, the spiders were still in the four corners where we’d left them and the room was still dirty.
We really can’t recommend this hotel.
