Ideal location to explore Turingia

We were looking for a relatively central and affordable place with easy access to the sights in Turingia, mainly Weimar, Erfurt and Gotha. Hotel Krone is ideal for that purpose. It is located opposite the train stration, from where a cheap family day ticket can take you to all these locations. For car travelers the Autobahn is also only few minutes distant. Furthermore we discovered that Arnstadt itself (oldest city in former GDR!) is rich in interesting places, first of all the "Puppenstadt", several dozens of big historic doll houses showing the life 200 years ago.
The hotel itself is very pleasant with big rooms and a nicely decorated bar/restaurant, where in the mornings a varied and tasty breakfast is served. The only minus is the shaky WiFI.

For the shortest budget

Been here couple of times now for 2 years for work. The rooms haven't been renovated since the 90s. Sometimes you have a fridge, sometimes not, sockets for laptop or anything are scarce. Rooms are quite noisy and not hotel but rather hostel standard and thin. Breakfast: is abundant but low quality overall. Oven baked buns from the discounter and the milk they serve has been without a joke the worst I ever drank. I would recommend this hotel if you're on a very tight budget and really just need to sleep. Otherwise stay far away.

Basic, but not without style & charm

Arnstadt is a beautiful town with a rich history and a number of very worthwhile sights. Stayed here for a stopover between Berlin and Southern Germany - Hotel Krone am Bahnhof turned out to be an o.k. cheapie (mostly, it seems, used by construction workers) - the buildiung is actually quite atmospheric, with a beautiful vintage wooden staircase. Setting is right next to the railway station, a 15 minute walk from the historical centre. Rooms were adequate for the price but really nothing special. The restaurant was a very pleasant surprise. Good food, terrific breakfast, cozy setting. Add to this the friendly staff, and you could do a lot worse for your money.

After 4 years not much has changed

This hotel is the base for the Australian Culinary Olympics Team every 4 years. Like an old shoe, it is always comfortable to slip into. The hotel has not changed anything, the rooms are still hard to get to for people with bad knees, as the only access is through the staircase. But the great thing there is that you are always met with a smile by the same staff that was there last time, they know how to look after you, and nothing seems to be too muc trouble for them.

Visit to Arnstadt and Steam Train Event Sept 2013

Very good, clean and comfortable. The food was absolutely excellent
supported by a high degree of professionalism. The beer garden is also
another item worth praising. Good atmosphere, friendly staff and worth
another visit.
