Extraordinary house
We just had a great time.
The hotel first. We had room 8. Not very big. Sober decoration, lots of wood, we liked. Available for infusions. Beautiful terrace that must be nice in summer with a beautiful view of the lake. However, being located against the restaurant room, we heard a lot of noise but quickly stopped, given the late hour of our return to the room. Breakfast not very hearty but good.
Let's now turn to the reason for our visit to this hostel: the restaurant. We were simply impressed by the chef's cuisine, fair, controlled, balanced, with some inspirations from the world without losing the essentials: local products. It's hard to tell which dish we liked best. Sure, on our next visit to Quebec, we will come back for at least one evening.

Nature, gastronomy and terroir
An absolutely magical place! Auberge St-Mathieu du Lac completely charmed me. The rooms are super comfortable, carefully decorated, and the views of the lake and the forest are breathtaking — hard to dream of better for relaxing and unhooking.
The Michelin-starred green restaurant is simply exceptional: each dish is a real journey, filled with local flavors and creativity. You can feel how respectful the kitchen is of nature and the land.
I also loved the bar counter, with its local produce and friendly Mood. This is the perfect place to have a drink, snack on something and enjoy the moment.
A big bravo to the whole team for their Welcoming, passion and attention to detail. It is a favorite address that I recommend without hesitation! ✨

Pure pleasure, comfort and nature – an unforgettable stay
A culinary experience of a special kind – a deserved green Michelin star!
The Auberge St-Mathieu-Du-Lac delighted us with an extraordinary evening that was unforgettable in every respect. From herbal compositions to tender meat, each dish was a harmonious interplay of taste, texture and aesthetics. The spices were used in fine doses and brought out the quality of the regional ingredients perfectly.
We were particularly impressed by the drink accompaniment: Both the alcohol-free pairing and the wine selection complemented the dishes in a creative and harmonious way. The non-alcoholic creations were multi-layered, surprising and a real asset – not only as an alternative, but as an equal treat.
The Mood convinces with warm earth tones, rustic elements and a fantastic view of the lake. An environment where you immediately feel at home and which beautifully frames the culinary experience. The Service was warm, attentive and professional – present but unobtrusive. You can feel the passion and aspiration to prepare a special evening for every guest. This restaurant is not only worth a visit – it is a place where sustainable top cuisine, creativity and a love of nature come together at the highest level. The green Michelin star is more than deserved – and in our opinion, a classic star would also be justified.
Also the hotel itself is highly recommended: The rooms are very nice, clean and comfortably equipped. Especially the superior room with balcony offers a magnificent view – perfect to relax and enjoy the stay to the fullest.
Excursion tip: If you want to discover a little more of the surroundings, we recommend a visit to the Parc national de la Mauricie – just a short drive away. The park offers stunning nature, clear lakes, dense forests and numerous hiking trails – ideal for anyone who likes to be outdoors and experience the beauty of Quebec.
