The Best for us!

The first hostel we stayed in on our trip to Panama, and the BEST. Free wifi, clean rooms, soft beds, great staff, breakfast included and the best staff.
The room was super clean, super confortable.

Great place for dinner

We were staying across the street and kept noticing a lively fun group of people on the patio each night. We stopped by with our teenage son and had a wonderful meal. The waiter helped us navigate the menu and we had some amazing empanadas, sausages and beers.

Good place

Good place and location; staff is also great. They include free breakfast and free wifi in all rooms. Good price-quality relation.
It is located within walking distance of the Cinta Costera. If you want to walk a bit further, you can also get to Via España. There are also plenty of restaurants, bars and convenience stores 24/7 within a walking distance as well.

breakfast at $5.50 for megs, toast, oj and coffee was best deal in area

location good, neighborhood good, across the street from the Waldorf, no beach near-by, no view from this back street but it's just one block from Ave Balboa, all 6 lanes.
Uber is the best transportation package, no charge for bad traffic, no $, and faster than any bus.

Just OK

I think at one time the Panama Hat Hostel was a fun, kind of funky place to stay. Not so much now. Our room with a three piece ensuite was spacious and clean with a wardrobe, two easy chairs and table. The hostel kitchen, located in a covered area in the back yard, has an apartment size fridge, one pot, one table knife, and a couple of glasses. No utensils needed to prepare a meal let alone the utensils or dishes needed to enjoy a meal. The back yard we were told had a pool that was filled in, hence all the dirt. Also there is an empty broken hot tub in a raised wooded deck with a chair and umbrella table. The graphics on the walls surrounding the back yard are spectacular, too bad they can not be enjoyed. The, down the street, grocery store is terribly over priced. A ten / fifteen minute walk to a huge store, Riba Smith, has a great selection. Some of the staff were helpful (especially the young woman who was on the afternoon shift), the smallish complimentary breakfast was fresh and the hostel was clean. Rebranded as a hotel / B&B would be more appropriate based on the services provided.
