Great hotel in an ideal location

This hotel offers very clean and cozy rooms with comfortable beds.
All the hotel staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Free waffles are offered at coffee time. Breakfast was very good. Numerous parking facilities are available. We would definitely come back!

Not the best hotel...

The receptionist who received us the evening we arrived. When issues arose, she lost her customer service and aura. Nor did she apologize for the inconvenience we experienced with the broken showerhead holder in BOTH rooms. When we asked for a fully functional room; she claimed the hotel was "fully booked", although the parking lot was empty (4 cars at the most in both parkinglots, front and back). If the hotel was truly fully booked, the breakfast hall would have been full of people in the morning; there was only ONE other customer sitting there when we had breakfast.
The management was not available in the evening, nor in the morning at checkout. The hotel booking site (NOT the hotel itself) gave us some "change" as credit for future bookings.
It was not really about the money for us, but rather HOW the situation was handled by the receptionist, as well as the management.
Will NEVER book with Stav Hotel again.

No communication

We arrived at 18:00 on a weekday. The place is easy to find and with ample parking. A sign on the door declared that they no longer have a restaurant. A German couple walked into the reception ahead of us to check in. The receptionist made them aware that they didn’t have any water. They had been without water most of the day and had no idea when it might be fixed. Apparently someone had been notified and were working on it. Very surprised they asked what if they had to use the toilet. The receptionist smiled and said that would not be possible. The couple were in disbelief, as were we, and told her that we obviously couldn’t stay the night without toilet or showers.
I also asked the receptionist why the hotel didn’t make contact to inform guests before they arrived. She didn’t think it was a big deal as they were just by the road and not a big detour. I tried to explain that we could have arranged a different hotel somewhere earlier, possibly further back where we came from. Now we had to find somewhere in the evening. That they were without water may not be their fault but the lack of communication is very poor service. They seemed to have been hoping that people still would’ve stayed.
We were told we had to cancel through whichever site it had been booked and then they would refund. To their credit they did refund it straight away after we had cancelled online.

Underperform

The room was out of date, more old fashion. The staff was in general not very interested to perform good work, more lack of interest. A terrible breakfast without any hot meal, without egg, orange juice and other basic elements.. The room smell urine, as I understood later this hotel allows dogs in the room.

Reasonable and good hotel

Surprisingly well! Got to check in earlier than planned because we were tired. Had plenty of waffles in the evening and a good selection at breakfast. Staff are friendly and helpful, tried to give us a good stay in every way. The room and the hotel are a bit tired, but the room had a large, clean bathroom. Will come back.
