Highly Recommend a stay at The Joseph.

We were met by Ignas at the entrance of The Joseph, Vilnius. Absolutely blown away by the quality of the room we were allocated. Ignas gave us a great description of how to make best of the time we had in Vilnius and a recommendation for a lovely restaurant.
Everything in the property is of the highest standard and perfectly clean.
The bed is huge and very comfortable.
The rain shower was great.

The reviews should be read carefully.

A accommodation that is not so easy to evaluate.
When booking, it is not clearly recognizable that it is not a hotel. Also, the entrance sign is not correctly marked, because on one hand, it refers to Signature Hotels Vilnius, but inside it says b&b.
So it is not a hotel in the conventional sense. From the outside, one first wonders whether they have been dropped off at the right address. Then there is no reception, and the access is inside the building but only on the second floor. Until then, we carried the suitcases ourselves, but we did not have much with us. However, we were offered help with the luggage via WhatsApp. That is how the contact proceeded until then.
Inside, we were very warmly welcomed by Ignas and found ourselves in another world. While the stairwell looks as if it has not been renovated in the last 50 years, everything in the TJ was top-notch. Very tasteful and of high quality.
Ignas himself was always reachable and was also available for a chat in the house.
In the room (we had one on the second floor and not on the fourth), there was neither a closet nor a shelf. So we lived out of the suitcase for three days. That is actually not acceptable. At the very least, there should be some storage options.
Otherwise, the room was nice, and there was little to complain about; however, the balcony facing the main street was hardly usable. The bed was, in our opinion, too soft.
We did not book breakfast and instead always went to the old town. There are several options within a 10 to 15-minute radius.
Yes, because we did not have any serious problems and felt comfortable, there are 4 points. But there is definitely room for improvement, especially regarding the labeling, the storage options, and possibly with the luggage.

Read ALL reviews before booking so you know what to expect

I have really put thought into how I want to review this hotel. I understand we are all trying to make a living & the staff were kind enough (shout out to Ignas). BUT, as a paying guest, I think you should be aware of everything before booking.
Most importantly, THERE IS NO ELEVATOR and the 1st part of the hotel is up 4 flights of stairs while the majority of the rooms are on the 4th floor (another 2 floors up). So, be prepared to lug your bags up MANY STAIRS upon arrival. The "hotel" is in a multi-use building & upon entering from the street, you feel like you are entering a 1983 communist-era apartment building; it is cold, dark and uninviting.
Once you make it to the main “hotel” floor & step inside, it’s like the skies open up, the angels sing & you are in a completely different world. All of the fixtures are high-end and tastefully done. There were fresh roses on the entry table & the lighting was warm & welcoming. The rooms are quite small but are tastefully done.
There is no breakfast room, since there were 6 of us traveling together that only see each other once a year, we were disappointed to know that we would not be having breakfast together, but usually a room service breakfast would be more than welcomed.
There are insanely expensive coffee machines on each of the 2 hotel floors, but no milk to take advantage of the cappuccino / latte options and you are allowed only 1 cup a day without being asked to pay for more. Considering that breakfast is served in the room, I think individual Nespresso machines with limited capsules (replenished daily) would be more convenient.
My biggest feedback for the management in regards to the coffee maker being in public areas AND someone walking into your room each morning to deliver your breakfast, is that it would be so nice to have ROBES (and if you want to go all out, even slippers). Instead, you feel like you have to get dressed to let the person into your room to deliver your food and to step outside for another cup of coffee. That defeats the whole beauty of having someone deliver breakfast to your room.
We were unable to get breakfast on our last morning as we requested it for 7a & were only then advised they do not serve before 8am. No “breakfast hours” were ever mentioned to us until the night before when I tried to place our breakfast order via WhatsApp (which is the only way to really communicate with staff as there is no front desk).
Ultimately – the level of clientele that they want to attract with the beautifully decorated rooms, Bose speakers, L'Occitane toiletries, Dyson hair dryers, etc. are NOT going to be willing to drag their luggage up multiple flights of stairs, if they even make it beyond the 1st impression one has when entering the building from the street.
I have worked in the travel industry for 30 years & could not put any of my clients here because of the dichotomy of this hotel. However, for active, independent travelers who enjoy quirky accommodations, this will be perfect for you.

Horror instead of Christmas vacation!

This hotel cheats on everything, 1. Photo on the website booking from the apartment, which is on the 2nd floor, we got into the room by the apartment on the 4th floor. There's no elevator in this house. At the moment of occupancy we could not get in for more than 15 minutes, the door to the front door was closed, accidentally one of the tenants came out, no one answered the phone. 2 bed turned out to be 140 cm. Width, this was naturally not announced either, but the worst was ahead of us, the bed was broken and a very old mattress was covered in stains and torn without a mattress. I couldn't sleep on the first night, we asked the manager to respond in the morning, to which he told us that there were no other rooms, he would try to strengthen the bed and change the room on the third night. When we returned to the hotel that evening to find that the room had not been cleaned and that there was a box under the bed that should apparently hold the mattress, there were no staff in the hotel. We were told this morning that no one had complained before us and they were not going to change the number, but could put a cot in. How the two of us were supposed to sleep on a 180cm×70cm camping cot was never explained. None of the staff were there, naturally. We have decided to book a hotel nearby and sleep at least 1 night in Vilnius. Investing in the design is a great solution, but the most important thing why you book a hotel is sleep, no bed, dust in 3 fingers under the bed, no staff with whom to solve the problems that arise, it is an indicator of the service in the hotel.
