Amazing!!!

Very amazing hostel. The lady running the hostel is very kind and extremely helpful, you can ask her anything. She knows a lotl about hakone and the transportations there.
Rooms and beds are very clean and nice, and an amazing view from the room!
Would love to go here again and definitely recommend it to everyone.

Great place to stay

-Big traditional japanesse room
-Great location-nearby the train and the bus station. There is a 7 eleven nearby where you can buy everything you want.
-Free coffe and tea
-Stuff very friendly and helping with planing everything (maps, bus hours, booking honsen...)

A little gem in a great spot!

I'm not usually one to stay in a hostel. I usually opt for a traditional hotel room. Booking the twin room at this hostel was a wonderful compromise. :)
My friend and I were travelling all over Japan and we wanted to experience both inexpensive and more elite types of accommodations. This hostel had a great location (not too far from Gora station where you can do the cablecar and ropeway thing), and had a great price tag.
We booked the twin room which means there are two twin beds in a room (unlike the room next door which has several people sharing in one room in bunk beds). Our room had a key and we felt save and secure leaving our belongings in there while we explored Hakone. The beds were comfortable and the windows were large and offered a nice view of the street below.
The host, Kiko, was super nice, speaks English very well, and was very helpful and accommodating. When we arrived he offered us complimentary coffee/tea (and it's complimentary during your stay), in the common area.
The common area is warm and inviting with cozy couches and chairs and a heater (it was March and it was COLD outside).
The shared bathroom area is simple - two modern and new sinks /faucets on a simple wood cabinet. The one toilet upstairs is in a room on its own which locks.
There is another toilet and shower available off the main common area on the first floor.
The common area has a kitchenette - there's a sink to watch your dishes and a microwave to heat up food. Very handy to have!
He recommended a great little place a couple doors down that serves food and has a small onsen for private use, which my friend and I booked. That was our first onsen of our trip to Japan!
Only have two small complaints:
1) He turns the heater off at night and the place got QUITE COLD. Our room had a little heater in it, which we needed to use!!! But when we left our room to use the bathroom we nearly FROZE. LOL.
2) Upon check-out, we wanted to leave our bags there to go explore and pick them back up again later. There is no locking system or safe storage there. You have to just leave your bags in the common area and HOPE that no one takes them or seeks through them. Luckily nothing bad happened, our bags were there and not missing anything inside them. But, a suggestion would be to install some large lockers somewhere, if there's room (which I suspect there isn't).
Overall a very pleasant stay, would visit this hostel again in a heartbeat. :)

Great visit

Spent two nights here and its location is wonderful for exploring Hakone. The host is incredibly helpful and went above and beyond at every opportunity. The beds were comfortable and the price incredibly reasonable. Would recommend.

Noisy

Amazing staff and location (I can’t stress this enough the people who works here are great and it is very clean)!! Unfortunately the building is so old and the floors are super noisy. It’s pretty hard to get a full nights sleep when light gets through the curtain things that cover the bunk beds and any footstep in the hostel echos throughout the entire place.
