the enchanting castel

A stay that enchanted us in a superb and very nice house.
With a charming host(Alberto), very attentive and good advice to visit the area, a comfortable room. And what about breakfast, otherwise we feasted.

Le Castel Enchante Fontiès-d’Aude

We stayed with Julie at her guesthouse for the past 4 nights and we can only say the very very best about her and her guesthouse. Julie is such a wonderful host and does everything she can to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable. Her attention to detail is fantastic, her rooms are very comfortable and spotlessly clean and the breakfast in the morning caters for all dietary needs and you will not leave here hungry. We highly recommend her and her guesthouse and definitely will be back

Feels like home!

We had a lovely stay at the Castel Enchante last week. It's set in the mountains (although be careful if you are driving, the roads to get up to it are very narrow and we chipped our bumper :)) and has lovely views from the terrace where you eat breakfast. Alberto, Mario (Alberto's son) and his wife are really friendly but not imposing. Alberto gave us great tips on where to go and what to do. The only thing I would say is it probably needs a little spruce up on the cleaning side, and then it would be truly magical!

Wonderful location

What a great little find by my wife.
A delightful, off the beaten track, bed and breakfast establishment run by Alberto and his wife.
The old house is fantastic and full of character.
Breakfast is taken on the terrace and consists of bread, croissants, home made jam, cold meats, fresh fruit and the occasional delicious addition.
There is also a quiet secluded swimming pool with great views over the valley.
Alberto is a wonderful hoste and is available for advice about local places to see and eat at along with travel information.
Alberto makes no secret that the property is quite high up from the main road, approx 500 metres to the road. It is easily walkable, to the train station and centre of Nice if you are reasonably fit.
A bus stop is approx 500 mtrs from the property and costs €1.50 per person per journey. A taxi is about €10 to the train station area, depending on the time of day.
Ideally a hire car would be the best option. The road up the hill is reasonably steep but not would not be an issue to drive up if you are a competent driver.
The rooms are comfortable with good showers and great views. TV and air conditioning in the 2 rooms we rented along with a small fridge.
Wifi is avaliable in the property.
We had a wonderful holiday and would definitely go back again if we visited Nice.
Oh, and not forgetting Yogi the dog, who has to be one of the most laid back dogs ever

Enchanting B&B

We felt almost like home at this laid-back and peaceful B&B. The welcome of the hosts was really friendly and they took good care of us during the whole visit. Alberto gave us good advise on places to visit in and around Nice. Also the dog Yogi was lovely! The breakfast was tasty and having it on the sunny terrace was a nice way to start the day. Our room was on the top floor with only a small window but it was cosy. There was no door to the toilet so it lacked some privacy but if you're ok with that it's not a problem. The last bit of the drive up to the B&B is quite steep and can be intimidating but if you're an experienced driver it's not a problem.
