Decor is neat and done with great taste.
Very clean hotel, good bedding... coupled with a restaurant serving simple and excellent cuisine.
Perfect for a relaxing stopover, at a moderate price with great quality.

Exotic

Very good, exotic stay in Moncontour and its inn where we were welcomed by a very nice young couple. Nice walk, good meal, and slept very well at the Hôtel de la Poterne where the breakfast was very hearty, very good welcome, nothing to complain about.

Hotel to avoid

Nice room but very unpleasant owner who kicked us out of the restaurant at 9:30 PM because "he wanted to go to sleep." There were 7 of us (4 rooms) and he refused to give us our restaurant bill because he had included it in the hotel bill. He did it his own way without dividing by 7, which meant that 2 couples paid €116 each, the single person €82, and the last couple €280... who was called an IDIOT because he asked for an explanation.... The next morning he refunded €160 to that couple without an apology, but we didn't get any bill; he couldn't provide them the next day!

An address to rediscover absolutely!

We discovered the hostel since the change of ownership... and what a nice surprise!
The place has completely evolved: a warm atmosphere, a real medieval universe revisited with elegance, and above all an original and accessible tapas concept.
You compose your feast freely, from various portions, which allows you to taste everything.
Continuous service from 10am to 10pm, it is rare and very appreciable.
The skewers are tasty, the seafood is ultra-fresh (special mention for hours and shrimp with aioli sauce), the cheeses and the cold cuts are well selected.
Big crush for truffled toast and Breton fare with salted butter caramel.
We feel a real desire for quality, to modernize while keeping the spirit inn.
The service is welcoming, smiling, and you feel considered.
An address that deserves to be discovered.
Congratulations to the new owners for this beautiful transformation!...
