Cosy, comfortable room and caring hosts

We had such a wonderful stay! Our hosts even went out of their way to have gluten free items for our continental breakfast. The bed was great, location perfect to explore and the room was nice and quiet. A perfect place to base yourself in the McLaren Vale area

So good I will only stay ever here in the southern wine district of SA

The cottages were a great central place to stay in Willunga. The host was fantastic and friendly, the room was spotlessly clean, the bed was really comfortable and the continental breakfast was fantastic, especially the sourdough loaf and the fresh juice.

Best stay on our wine trip

Hosts were helpfully communicative before and during our stay without being intrusive in any way. Wonderful to come into the scrupulously clean, warm, slightly scented room with music playing lightly in the background. Comfy sleep on queen beds and bathroom heater with separate toilet all added to the comfort. Greeted also by a home made cobb loaf and fruits. Definitely stay here again the next time we are thru. Thank you Shane and Louise...outstanding hosts!

A fabulous place to stay in the middle of Willunga

We really enjoyed our 3 nights at 1839, certainly plan to come back . The hosts were fantastic nothing was too much .
We had the largest unit with kitchen and bedroom ,plenty of room , the smaller one is great and that can be rented out for 1 night .
It is so close to everything and sure a huge choice of eating places , can certainly recommend the Niagara chicken wings from Shifty lizards next door , they did takeaway for us .
Could not be happier loved our stay

We were very disappointed with our accommodation because we were allocated an "overflow" room, not a Cottage Room

We booked and paid for a Cottage Room which looked very impressive on the website and on a physical inspection. However because the 2 Cottage Rooms were already occupied, we were accommodated in a small motel style room attached to the owners' house. The facilities in this room were not a patch on the Cottage Rooms and the room was at best a $100 a night room. When we complained to the owner about him misrepresenting this room as a Cottage Room, he was abusive and slammed the door in our face. Our advice is "Make sure you have been allocated to a Cottage Room, or give it a miss".

Thank you for your review.
I am disappointed you didn't enjoy the free upgrade into the double room as most people do and wished you had expressed this on check in.
Asking for a refund after you have used the facilities and not raising any issues whilst staying at the property is not a legitimate reason to demand your money back at check out.
Yes, the double room is smaller than the cottages but is perfect for a two person stay and we receive many compliments on it.
As we now know, you were trying to accommodate another couple without our knowledge which wasn't possible in the double room. Not only is this illegal but unsafe.
Thank you for staying with us, but we will not be able to accommodate you again in the future.
