Novotel Darwin CBD
We enjoyed our recent stay here. We stayed in a Junior King Room, which was very comfortable. The decor was modern and the bed nice and comfy. The staff were all very welcoming, polite and friendly. The atrium is a lovely spot to relax and have a drink or two.
We tried out the restaurant, throughly enjoyed our meals, and also the outdoor seating.
Just a couple of criticisms - no working extraction fan in the bathroom, so steamed up very quickly and became very hot - was actually quite unpleasant. And the air conditioner was very noisy.
But a positive experience overall

Unsafe asbestos eaves under the air-conditioning inlet
Eaves above the verandah and underneath the aircon inlet had multiple broken hanging asbestos sheets. This is not safe and i don't know how it's legal. We left the hotel the next morning but we were forced to stay that night with windows that didn't open and no aircon.

Book elsewhere
Reception with one staff member. Had to wait for over an hour for room to be ready. Ironing board broken & couldn’t stand. Wash basin cracked. One pair of slippers. Reception not reachable by phone.

Terribly rundown and should not be under the Novotel/Accor brand
I rarely write a review before sleeping the night but felt I should in case someone is looking at booking here, I would say don’t! Look at the new Voco or The Leea or anywhere that’s been renovated in the last 35 years unlike the Novotel!
How this hotel is running under a brand name such as Novotel is beyond me.
It is so dated and rundown, the bathroom walls have raw plugs in them where previous accessories have been removed, the sink is cracked, the towel rail looks like it’s being held on by a wing and a prayer. The carpet is stained and the air cons don’t appear to be able to motivate themselves in the drab surrounds to blow cold air!
We have a 2 bedroom apartment with a city view which entails a beautiful view of the car park with a rust bucket of a van parked in a space that says skip….if only there was a skip there to take all the crappy parts of the hotel away!
It is either being renovated or the 5th floor roof is being held up by wood and steel in the hope it doesn’t fall on someone in the lobby below.
Having just looked at the view we made the decision to go spend the day at Berry springs instead.
Luckily we only have a night here and we managed to checkin and be out for the evening within 10 minutes.
Please don’t stay here!
