Family vacation was a complete success.

Very, very nice service at breakfast, dinner, at the reception, and room service. Beautiful bright rooms with a lot of wood and a new bathroom. Breakfast buffet is very good. Dinner is good. Swimming, saunas, and a Kneipp facility are available. The two children loved the three swings.

Always happy to.

My husband and I celebrated his birthday in the Bavarian Forest. We've both been here for years for the Schrothkur and now and then for small breaks. This time we stayed in the house Frieda in the studio room. It was plentiful for both of us and our dog.
I would like to mention the kindness of the staff and the excellent cuisine in particular.

Great value for money, especially because of the wellness area!

For our family trip, we were looking for a hotel with breakfast that had a small wellness area (indoor pool, whirlpool, outdoor sauna, etc.) and where there were no quiet zones so that you could chat and laugh without being looked at strangely. We definitely found what we were looking for in the Hotel das Bayerwald and we didn't regret it. The price-performance ratio for breakfast was also really great! We had only booked breakfast, which is available from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The selection was really absolutely top notch for the price. There was a selection of different rolls. There was also not just one type of sausage and cheese platter, but a nice selection! There was even salmon. At the muesli and yoghurt counter, there was something for everyone, from Bircher muesli to natural yoghurt, etc. There was even dried fruit (mango and apple rings). I didn't see any nuts. A homemade fruit salad was available, as well as chopped vegetables (peppers, cucumbers, etc.). Various spreads such as jams, Nutella, honey were also available. Even scrambled eggs and boiled eggs were provided. Various juices were also available, tea could be made yourself, cappuccino and coffee were served at the table.
The wellness area consists of a Finnish log cabin sauna that is located outside (90°C), a sanarium (65°C), steam bath, infrared heat cabin, etc. There is also a heated whirlpool and an indoor pool that is great for swimming. The loungers have very comfortable cushions and there is a small station where you can get hot water for tea. A large bath towel is provided in the room. I couldn't find any fresh towels in the bathing area, but since we had our own in our luggage, that wasn't a problem.
The rooms are in different "houses". There are rooms in the main building, as well as in Haus Frieda, Haus Ulrich (70 m away) and in the swimming pool house. We booked several double rooms through Booking.com and got some right in the swimming pool building on the first floor. It's practical that you're right above the wellness area and don't have to walk far, but the rooms here are unfortunately a bit older and not as modern as the rooms in Haus Frieda, for example. There were no bathrobes in the room, but you could borrow one from reception for €3.

Very nice family hotel

This hotel is located in Lam, small city with few restaurants, shops and swimming pool. It is good place for trips to the mountains or you can just stay in the hotel and relax in hotel pool and sauna. They are prepared for small visitors, as they have outside playground. Breakfest is good, my husband miss only sausages to have full english Br. Rooms are big enought, we had extra bed and kid bed for our sons. There is a restaurant in the hotel as well as in the city. Shops are closed on Sunday.

Peaceful, relaxing stay in a nice little hotel

We were very satisfied with our stay in the family owned hotel "The Bayerwald" in Lam. Very good and friendly service with great food, a nice Spa, lots of opportunities for a little trekking, nice mountain view and the opportunity to visit Czech Republic, since being located very close 4 km, to the border.
Will come back soon.
