Beautiful hotel in the countryside

Actually, I would have to write two reviews to do justice to the hotel and its restaurant. So I just split the review.
1. The hotel
Located on a dredging lake (which is not a bathing lake), in the middle of the greenery, the Seehotel Ketsch is a solid, quiet hotel. The location to destinations such as Schwetzingen, Hockenheimring, Heidelberg or Speyer makes it a good base for excursions. But even for smaller conferences it is a tip, because just not "in the middle", but "on the edge" of Ketch. The rooms are modern and very well maintained, the hotel service friendly. Breakfast is varied and there is something for everyone.
2. The restaurant
We ate there twice as a group. While the first time "a la carte" everything was chic and beautiful, the kitchen has failed at the 2nd attempt (group with pre-ordered food). The clearly homemade Hollandaise was just as good as the appetizer selection served on Etageren and the dessert. But in an asparagus area, you shouldn’t allow yourself to blunder with asparagus with potatoes, hollandaise sauce and ham - at least not with asparagus and potatoes. They weren't cooked clean and the asparagus clearly had too little salt, which the ham had too much. Considering the prices quoted, not acceptable to me, therefore no full score.
Conclusion: Nice hotel, not exactly inexpensive (especially the restaurant), very good and friendly service.

I don't recommend this hotel

I don't recommend this hotel, the hotel staff is not very receptive, and the overall atmosphere of the hotel feels off

Sleep in summer hardly possible

Very nice location, good breakfast and a pretty breakfast area. Unfortunately, my room was on the 3rd floor. Stock in August unbearably hot – despite the open window and fan, it only cooled down after 2 a.m. Added to this was the old-fashioned room facilities. After three nights I was completely exhausted, no sign of recovery.

Disappointing

The hotel looks good and has clearly been loved by the people running it. Unfortunately they are a little quirky and lack in basic areas. We arrived at 3:30pm before an evening race training session at Hockenheim. There was no food to be had anywhere in the hotel, we ended up at Burger King out of desperation. Our meal in the evening cost €300 and was ok but not great value for money. However after a sweaty night (the cooling controls in the room didn’t do anything) the next morning we found breakfast had stopped before 10am. In all my years of travel I’ve never see anywhere stop that early on the weekend. I went to speak to reception but they were closed. We now face a 3 hour drive which has to begin with a search for breakfast. 4 star hotel? No way.

Very Good Hotel

This is a very pleasing, well run and maintained hotel. I have stayed there on previous occasions, the service and staff have always been very helpful and polite and though we have struggled, they have always spoken enough English to keep us fed and supplied with beer. The parking is good and view across the fishing lake is great.
My only criticism is the comfort of the beds and pillows - they are new but not comfortable.
